A hotel stay in Dubai: clothes, creases and laundry on the go

A week in Dubai means heat, beach days and dinners out, often from one suitcase. Here is how to pack for it, keep your clothes fresh in the room and get a wash done without losing a day of your trip.

01Pack for the heat

  • Light, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen are easier in the heat than heavy synthetics
  • Pack fewer clothes and plan one wash halfway through a longer stay
  • Bring a cotton bag or a spare laundry bag for worn clothes
  • Fold a suit jacket inside out, or travel it in a garment bag, to keep the front smooth

02In the room

Keep worn clothes apart from clean ones, in their own bag, so sweat and smells do not travel through the suitcase. Hang anything you will wear again rather than leaving it folded in the case, so it can air out.

03Beach and pool days

  • Rinse swimwear in cool fresh water after the sea or the pool, to wash out salt, chlorine and sun cream
  • Press the water out gently in a towel; do not wring
  • Dry it in the shade, not in strong sun
  • Shake sand out of clothes and bags outside, before they go back in the case

04Creases from the suitcase

Unpack and hang clothes as soon as you arrive. Hanging a shirt in the bathroom while the shower runs hot lets the steam relax light creases. If you use the room's iron, set it to the heat the care label allows.

05Marks while you are out

Coffee, oil and food marks come out more easily if you act early: blot, do not rub, and rinse from the back with cold water. Keep heat away, including the hair dryer, until the mark has gone; our coffee and oil guides go step by step.

06Or hand it to us
